
Center for Change court appointed classes offer Master level instructors that utilize a variety of methods to educate participants about the impact of domestic violence. Accountability and victim safety are the primary goals.
Center for Change offers a variety of court ordered programs.
If you have been court mandated to attend classes:
- Call to set up an appointment as soon as possible.
- There is a one time $40.00 orientation fee and a weekly class fee.
- Be sure to bring proof of income at the time of registration.
The offender accountability program is NOT an attempt at therapy. It does not promise to change behavior of an abuser. The goals of the program are:
- To show the effect that abuse has on an individual.
- To hold individuals accountable for their abusive behavior.
- To encourage individuals to take responsibility for his/her behavior.
- To educate individuals about healthy relationship skills.
- To teach alternative ways to handle conflict in a healthy way.
OAP (Offenders Accountability Program)
Classes are offered:
Tuesday 4:30 pm or 6:30 pm
Wednesday 6:30 pm
Saturday 9:30 am
This is a 26 week accountability program.
Most participants are mandated by Courts, Probation, Parole, the Department of Social Services or Child Protection Services.
This program includes topics such as: boundaries, healthy relationship skills, stereotypes & gender roles, forgiveness, distorted thinking styles, understanding violence, anger management skills, affect (mood) education, assertiveness, effects of domestic violence, high conflict on children, male privilege.
WADS (Woman as Defendants)
Classes are offered:
Saturday 11:00 am
This is a 26 week accountability program.
Most participants are mandated by Courts, Probation, Parole, the Department of Social Services or Child Protection Services.
This program includes topics such as: boundaries, healthy relationship skills, stereotypes & gender roles, forgiveness, distorted thinking styles, understanding violence, anger management skills, affect (mood) education, assertiveness, effects of domestic violence, high conflict on children.
JOES (Juvenile Offenders Education Series)
Classes are offered:
Saturdays 11:00am-12:00pm.
This is a 26 week accountability program.
Most participants are mandated by Courts, Probation, Parole, the Department of Social Services or Child Protection Services.
This program includes topics such as: boundaries, healthy relationship skills, stereotypes & gender roles, forgiveness, distorted thinking styles, understanding violence, anger management skills, affect (mood) education, assertiveness, effects of domestic violence, high conflict on children, male privilege.
Are You Abusive?
- Do you often check up on your partner?
- Are you extremely jealous or possessive?
- Have you ever hit, kicked, shoved, grabbed, or thrown things at your partner?
- Do you often insult or criticize your partner, family member, or friends?
- Do you become violent when when you use drugs or alcohol?
- Have you threatened your partner, family member, of friends or intentionally broken things in front of them?
- Have you threatened to hurt yourself if you partner breaks up with you?
- Have you threatened to hurt yourself if you partner, family members, or friends say “No” to you?
If you answered YES to even one of the above questions:
Realize that you are inflicting emotional, physical, verbal or psychological abuse. If you continue acting this way you will never have a mutually satisfying, healthy relationship. If you can recognize what you are doing is wrong, you can be helped.
